GTA 6 Extended Look: 10 Things We Learned

The essential facts from Rockstar's official presentation, with community speculation kept clearly labelled.

Missed the premiere? Here is the short version. The Extended Look is an official presentation running about 27 minutes, captured entirely on PlayStation 5, that puts the everyday sandbox around Jason and Lucia on the same stage as the crime story.

  1. The presentation is now public. Netflix hosted the first release window on August 27, followed by the free official upload on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the GTA VI site.
  2. It runs for about 27 minutes. The runtime reported around the release is substantially longer than a normal trailer, but the format is a montage of gameplay clips and cutscenes rather than a developer walkthrough.
  3. The footage was captured on PlayStation 5. Rockstar's official page says the Extended Look was captured entirely from in-game footage on PS5. That makes the visual showcase useful, but it is not a final performance benchmark.
  4. Jason and Lucia remain the centre of the story. Jobs, escapes and communication between the pair provide the connective thread. Preview reporting also says their relationship can develop while they remain partners in crime.
  5. Leonida is designed for downtime. Public breakdowns of the presentation point to activities including mini golf, kayaking, scuba diving, gym work, parachuting, dirt-bike racing and wildlife encounters.
  6. The city is built around small reactions. Crowded streets, fuller interiors, traffic behaviour and NPC responses are the details that fans keep pausing on - the “living world” layer matters as much as the set pieces.
  7. Missions still escalate in familiar Rockstar fashion. A deal or security job can turn into a shootout and an escape. Some players love that rhythm; others are asking whether the missions offer enough freedom beyond the spectacle.
  8. The presentation is carefully edited. It sometimes shifts viewpoint between Jason and Lucia to serve the scene. That shows the storytelling intent, but it does not prove that every perspective change is freely controlled by the player.
  9. PC remains an open question. Rockstar has not announced a PC release date. Any later window is an expectation based on series history, not a confirmed launch plan.
  10. GTA Online was not substantially revealed. The Extended Look focuses on the single-player world and does not settle the next multiplayer roadmap.
Bottom line: Fans are most excited by the world systems and the sense of place. The most useful follow-up questions are not “does it look good?” but “how much of this is playable everywhere, and how much freedom sits inside the missions?”
